Why can't the remote url act like a regular encoder?

Hi all
Question, Why can't the remote url command be like a regular encoder and keep looking for the connection until the next command ?
Also, When there is a fail to load (Remote url) and there has been dead air for an hour, its looking like when the clock reaches a new command its not playing it automatically, I have to manually press play. Shouldn't that be automatic ?
