It's been mentioned here but I've not heard of a successful solution.
Traditionally sub-audio tones have been used as triggers. The key problem is recognition speed.
Many decades ago I built a system for a similar application using FX207 & FX307 chips (https://islandlabs.eu/cml-fx107.html) but it didn't matter that the tones were "in band".
Personally, if I were attempting a similar thing now and the sustaining feed was digital I would think about metadata in the stream but I don't know of a system that does this.
It's certainly something that I think would be good as an addition to PlayIt Live.
Alternatively Amazon sells a DTMF decoder and there are boards that can take button inputs and emulate a keyboard press.
It won't be elegant but it might do the job.
For completeness it was a while back but I made a button box.
This with a DTMF decoder built in might do the job.

Has anyone set up PlayIt Live to trigger from a tone or DTMF cue?
I’d like an incoming feed to trigger a local break, play local audio, then return to the feed.
What hardware or setup are you using?
Thanks,
Eric
