I am having the same trouble.
Have an analog mixer connected via audio interface to PC. If I try using the PlayItOut Mix I get no end of trouble, In the end I think I have the output set to USB Microphone (might be USB Speakers, I will check) in the plug in. Most times though, the microphone input does not get sent to the broadcasting stream.
Is it worth using BUTT for the actual broadcast part?
Thanks Simon, I don't think there is a loopback function but interestingly I did see loopback pop up a recording option on Audacity. I think the only way at the moment is to use a virtual cable or just get presenters using a USB mic into the laptop and monitor using headphones, which is annoying. Actually would that solution even work?
I can't comment on problems making the internet broadcast and microphone push to talk plugins work well together as I've never tried the "microphone push to talk" plugin but I can comment on "loopback".
Have a look at https://support.playitsoftware.com/support/discussions/topics/5000089090
where I use a soundcard/mixer with "loopback" and PlayIt Live.
I didn't stress the point in that article but it is probably worth clarifying what "loopback" is and why you would (or wouldn't) want it.
Most applications for a sound card expect audio plugged into the card (microphone etc) to go to the computer and the audio from the computer to appear in the headphones or speakers connected to the sound card.
Often you want the sources plugged into the mixer to also appear in the headphones (so you hear yourself on a microphone and the audio from the computer mixed in your headphones).
The Yamaha AG03 has three settings (set by "To PC"), they are
.
Some other soundcards incorporate a "loopback" function and it's achievable in some mixers with USB connections.
Amazing Mark - that's exactly my setup (except I have the AG06) and settings are the same as yours. I use a Zoom mixer as the input into the AG06 - but, as I say, the basic settings and method of operation exactly the same as yours.
Ok - so my chain is as follows.
Analog mixer with CD inputs and XLR Mic. Audio USB I/O interface between mixer and PC
Music from PlayIt comes into Mixer so presenter can hear and adjust levels accordingly.
Goes from Mixer via USB I/O back into PlayIt.
If PlayIt Main Mix is selected, stuttering and doubling up on the presenter when PTT is open. Basically a Larson effect. When PTT is not being pressed, music plays fine.
The Microphone mix plug in is set to the USB Codec interface as is the Audio Source to Broadcast.
Is there anything obvious that I could try please to fix the problem?
Thank you
Thanks Mark, so I am guessing the reason I am getting the weird sound (almost like the XLR is picking up the output when PTT is engaged and doubling/sounding in delay) is that?
I have attached a couple pics of the streaming and input things I set up yesterday.
Ah thank you both! Do I need to set virtual cable up within PlayIt Live at all? (I get the input into the PIL recorder - I think!)
Also (sorry, not sure how to edit posts) - with the above I don't need to be selecting PlayIt Live main mix anywhere do I? When was doing testing yesterday, the audio from the mixer was going out on the stream but I didn't seem able to record it? i.e., the presenter went out and could be heard but the recording featured none of his speech, although you could hear the mic dipping when he was doing links.
I've not tried Stereo Tool but I do use Rocket Broadcaster (paid version) which takes VST plug ins and the "Broadcast" processor that they suggest. That's a good answer although I do like the Behringer 9024 hardware processor..
Now considering PlayIt Live and a sound card.
In true "don't try this at home style", I've used my very underpowered Dell tablet with the only "simple" sound card I have, an antique Creative SoundBlaster which doesn't seem to like the Windows 10 driver and is stuck in 48kHz which may account for the glitches I had.
The setup
USB sound card connected and input looped from the output (and some headphones to hear it with). The red phono lead could (obviously) be replaced with a mixer and the mixer output goes to the USB sound card input, a mixer channel is fed from the USB sound card output.
Player settings
All set to use the USB sound card output.
Streaming PlugIn
Set to take the USB sound card as a source.
The Icecast Stream
As you can see it seems to all work.
The settings on the encoder were all left over from my OB tests with the Yamaha AG03 some months back.
That worked better than the Creative SoundBlaster (probably due to a better driver).
@Mark Hi Mark, were you able to comment further on how I should set up Main Mix vs just Mic input? (Sorry for asking again, don't mean to mither)
Thanks Mark - it was the PlayIt Main Mix that was throwing me - I will set everything to go BACK to the mixer and then take the source FROM the mixer for Broadcast. Hopefully it will record that way as well - thank you for clarifying though, really appreciate that :-)

Hi - I'm using the internet broadcast and microphone push to talk plugins with PlayItLive.
The microphone settings have been a bit strange, but I have configured the microphone plugin to my USB microphone.
If I broadcast the playitlive mainmix to my audio stream, then you cannot hear the microphone.
The way round this is to select "headphones" as the playback in the microphone plugin, and then stream the "headphones" feed to the streaming server. This allows the microphone to be broadcast. But it feels a slightly sub-optimal way of doing things. It also means that any other noise omitted by the computer (a notification or other windows noise that gets picked up through the headphone feed) also gets broadcast into the stream.
Any advice much appreciated!
