As per the topic title, where's the PIL database as I would like to make a backup copy just in case I need to re-install the software at some point.

Not really a surprise; either that that's where it is or that I missed it in the FAQ :o
You can open with SQLite Studio (https://sqlitestudio.pl). We don't support editing the database outside PlayIt Live.
