I've been experimenting with this and found it "just the job" used with "BUTT" (Broadcast Using This Tool) for streaming.
With the default settings the track names flow through an Icecast server to a streaming client.
With the latest version of "XiiaLive" on Android the client even picks up appropriate artwork for the artist and song where it can (this is a feature of "XiiaLive" not the "Now Playing" plug in).
Jolly good all round !
