If one of PlayIt Software's products is running slower than expected, this could be related to a performance issue. 


If requested by PlayIt Software Support, please follow these steps to assist with diagnosing the issue.


  1. Download JetBrains dotTrace command line tool from https://www.jetbrains.com/profiler/download/#section=commandline


  2. Extract the downloaded zip, which should place the files in a folder such as C:\Users\%username%\Downloads\JetBrains.dotTrace.CommandLineTools.windows-x64.2023.3.4

  3. From the extracted folder in File Explorer, open the command line by clicking any empty space in the address bar and typing cmd and press Enter

  4. Run the affected PlayIt program: e.g. PlayIt VoiceTrack, and navigate to the point before the slow performance

  5. On the command line terminal that has opened, type:

    dottrace attach PlayItVoiceTrack --save-to=PlayItSnapshot.dtp

    and press Enter.

  6. The command line program will run. Wait until you see Profiling in progress...

  7. Perform the action within the PlayIt program where you have observed slow performance

  8. Once complete, return to the command line and press CTRL+C.
  9. You will see the text Taking a snapshot...
  10. Wait until you see Collected snapshot: and the path to the snapshot


  11. Return to the extracted folder in File Explorer and locate PlayItSnapshot.dtp as well as any additional files such as .dtp.0000, .dtp.0001 etc.


  12. Select all the snapshot files located above, right-click and select Send to and then Compressed (zipped) folder

  13. A file PlayItSnapshot.zip will be created
  14. Upload the created .zip file to a file sharing website such as WeTransfer (https://wetransfer.com/) and share the link by email via our Contact page
